Emails Reveal the late financier and Steve Bannon Ties

Steve Bannon
Bannon was one of the former president's closest strategists before resigning from the White House in 2017

In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, who was due to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can make the flight we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a Gulf Air departing at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an excellent helper".

These messages were published on Wednesday together with over 20,000 pages from the records of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets managed to establish his identity by cross-referencing the dates, occurrences, and locations mentioned.

For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from the UK for the unnamed individual in the messages, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the News Xchange conference on 14 November, and delivered the talk at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, declined to comment on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of Trump's closest aides in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but stepped down from the White House in 2017.

He has admitted he was producing a documentary about Epstein before his death and allegedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he stated: "We're going to release the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times seeming to act like a aide.

A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have booked a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Massages. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're well looked after."

UK Politics Discussed in Exchanges

The published communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in 2018.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this morning with Nigel, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to Theresa May, the struggling UK prime minister at the time, he added: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as much as you can uk. Ideal- so others see the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely however the people over here have little courage" and added "Johnson ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - somebody has to take charge".

May was eventually toppled in 2019 after surviving multiple attempts of lack of support in late 2018.

A spokesman for the political party informed the BBC: "Farage has not been in a meeting with Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will vote next week on whether the justice department should make public all its files related to its investigation into Epstein, who passed away in jail in that year.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was renewed this week after the release of over 20,000 pages from his estate.

A portion of those mentioned Trump, who has repeatedly denied any impropriety. The president was a friend of Epstein's for years, but claims they parted ways in the early 2000s, two years before Epstein was first arrested.
